Turn back

I love going to camp in the summer.
I loved it as a kid; just having a week to go & do kid stuff was so fun & I looked forward to it every year; but I’ve noticed that I enjoy it so much more now that I’m staff.
You have pretty much a whole summer just to be in God’s presence, to see Him work in so many lives, to see Him shine through your co-workers, to just learn from Him.It’s incredible.

I learn so many things during the summer that I feel need to be shared with everyone.

This summer I’ve been reading through Jeremiah & the grace of God has just overwhelmed me as I’ve been going through it.
You see, Israel had completely turned away from God; they turned their backs & were deliberatly disobeying Him. They were basically “cheating” on God.
“If a man’s wife walks out on him and marries another man, can he take her back as if nothing had happened? Wouldn’t that raise a huge stink  in the land? And isn’t that what you’ve done – ‘whored’ your way with god after god? And now you want to come back as if nothing had happened.” God’s Decree. ~ Jeremiah 3:1 ~

It sounds pretty hopeless. Israel screwed up, its over, thats it, they blew it.
But,
God isn’t done with them yet; in fact, if you keep reading further, God comes back & says this:

“‘Turn back, fickle Israel.  I’m not just hanging back to punish you. I’m committed in love to you. My anger doesn’t seethe nonstop. Just admit your guilt. Admit your God-defiance. Admit to your promiscuous life with casual partners, pulling strangers into the sex-and-religion groves while turning a deaf ear to me.’” God’s Decree. “Come back, wandering children!” God’s Decree. “I, yes I, am your true husband. I’ll pick you out one by one—This one from the city, these two from the country— and bring you to Zion. ~ Jeremiah 3:12-15 ~

Israel had messed up so badly. They had completely denied God yet He still wanted them to come back.
The same goes for us.
He wants us to return to Him.
No matter what we’ve done.
How far we’ve wandered.
He wipes the slate clean.
He is committed to us in love.
He calls us children

All we have to do is turn around, admit what we’ve done & run back into His open arms.
He’s always there.
So what are you waiting for?
turn back.
