There’s this song we sing at camp, I think it’s called Dancing Generation. I’ve written about it before but time and time again, one line from it always gets stuck in my head.
It’s the overflow of a forgiven soul, and now we see you God and our hearts cannot stay silent.
To me this line just screams, JOY, even though it never even mentions the word itself.
And to me, the word JOY screams BEAUTY.
I believe joy is such a beautiful thing. It’s what makes someone’s heart look beautiful. It’s what makes people smile so big that their faces ache and laugh so hard that tears stream down their face.
Joy makes people truly beautiful because when they’re so joyful that it just flows out of their heart, you see the person who God originally created, not the person they can pretend to be normally. All those masks they put on seem to melt away when that pure, unadulterated joy comes out and you see the real them, I believe that is truly beautiful.
Joy is something that can’t be masked. It’s something that is impossible to keep to yourself, it must be shared with others. It’s so light that it just bubbles out of you; it overflows from your being. Joy like this is certainly a gift from God.
I thank God for beautiful gifts every day and joy is usually close to the top of my list.
“I think happiness is what makes you pretty. Period. Happy people are beautiful. They become like a mirror and they reflect that happiness.” {Drew Barrymore}
